TSMC BOOKS $16.35B IN A SINGLE MONTH, A RECORD
Its most advanced 5, 4 and 3-nanometer lines ran fully booked last quarter, so AI server orders are hitting a factory floor with no spare capacity to sell.

🔴 $16.35 billion. That is what TSMC sold in the month of August alone.
CNBC reports the world's largest contract chipmaker posted NT$514.8 billion in monthly revenue, a record, up 53.3% from a year earlier and 10.1% from July. It is the fourth straight month of rising sales.
The driver is AI. On its second-quarter call in July, TSMC called AI-related demand "extremely robust". That quarter it reported a more than 77% jump in profit and guided third-quarter revenue to between $44.6 billion and $45.8 billion.
Its grip on the industry is not close. TrendForce data cited by CNBC puts TSMC at 72.5% of the global foundry market in the second quarter. Samsung Foundry was second at 5.9%. China's SMIC took 5.4%.
The reason is capacity. TrendForce says TSMC's advanced 5, 4 and 3-nanometer lines were fully booked through the quarter, with AI server processors soaking up the supply. The top 10 foundries together posted a record $53.49 billion for the quarter, partly because advanced-process supply is tight.
TSMC is already planning the next decade too. It and ASML said this week that TSMC intends to use High NA technology in large-scale manufacturing for advanced nodes starting in 2030.
One oddity: the stock closed 0.61% lower on Thursday, ahead of the release.
📈 Is AI chip demand still early, or are you looking at the peak?
