'THE ODYSSEY' TAKES 66.3% OF KOREA'S ENTIRE WEEKEND BOX OFFICE
Korea's total weekend market shrank to $16.1 million from $22.3 million a week earlier, so one film absorbed two-thirds of a market that is getting smaller.

🔴 $10.6 million in three days. That is 66.3% of every ticket dollar spent in South Korea over the weekend of Aug. 21-23.
Variety reports, citing KOBIS data from the Korean Film Council, that Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" held the top spot in Korea for a third frame, pulling 1,321,204 admissions across 2,182 screens.
Running local total since the Aug. 5 launch: $56.8 million from 7,109,368 admissions.
"Spider-Man: Brand New Day" stayed at No. 2 in its fourth weekend with $2.9 million from 386,754 admissions and an 18.39% share. Its cumulative Korean haul is $61.4 million from 8,127,615 admissions, still ahead of Nolan's total for now.
Behind them, the drop is steep. "Insidious: Out of the Further" opened third with $547,555 from 71,592 admissions on 678 screens. Local animated title "Teenieping: Legend of the Whale Heartstone" took fourth with $480,487, lifting it to $5.3 million.
The number that matters for exhibitors: the entire Korean weekend market came in at $16.1 million, down from $22.3 million the week before. Two films took the overwhelming majority of a shrinking pool.
When one title holds two-thirds of a market, everyone else is fighting over scraps.
Would you go see "The Odyssey" in a theatre, or wait for it at home?
