🚨 $900 million domestic. In 36 days.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day crosses the nine-figure-times-nine mark today, Deadline reports, becoming only the second film ever to get there at the US box office.

The first was Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015. It needed 50 days. Sony and Marvel's Tom Holland, Zendaya and Sadie Sink picture did it in 36.

📈 Week five: $30.4M across 3,678 theaters, off 43%, for a running cume of $899.7M through Thursday.

Deadline's sources have the Destin Daniel Cretton film pencilled at around $18M for the Friday-to-Monday holiday stretch. That matters, because the all-time domestic record is The Force Awakens' $936.6M. At that pace, the crown changes hands within weeks.

The rest of the weekend is being fought over the scraps. Paramount's By Any Means, the Elegance Bratton thriller with Mark Wahlberg and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, did $725,000 in previews at 2,350 theaters. Hammerstone financed it for $29M and Paramount is distributing only. Four-day outlook: $6M to $8M. Critics have it at 58% on Rotten Tomatoes.

A24's Onslaught took $275K in previews at 1,900 theaters, made for around $15M before marketing, tracking $5M to $7M. 57% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Elsewhere on the chart: Coyote Vs. Acme opened to $22.4M, The Odyssey added $22.2M for $571.7M.

Does Spider-Man actually take the all-time domestic record, or does it stall short of $936.6M?
