APPLE SETS SEPT. 9 IPHONE EVENT IN CUPERTINO
Tim Cook becomes executive chairman on Sept. 1, so John Ternus takes the stage eight days into the job with the product line analysts expect to include Apple's first folding phone.

🚨 Apple has locked in Sept. 9 for its next launch event, and it will be the first one Tim Cook does not run.
CNBC reports the event takes place at Apple's Cupertino headquarters, starting at 10 a.m. Pacific. Media invites went out with the tagline "Surprise and shine" and a glowing Apple logo.
The date matters. Cook is stepping down and becomes executive chairman on Sept. 1. That puts John Ternus on stage as CEO eight days into the role, fronting the company's most-watched product moment of the year.
What analysts expect, per CNBC: new iPhones, new Apple Watches, and the company's first folding phone.
Also coming is Siri AI, a rebuilt version of the assistant running on large language model technology, able to operate inside apps such as messaging and calendars.
Apple already moved on the Mac side this week, announcing new Mac Mini and Mac Studio models that ship Sept. 22.
The iPhone launch is the single biggest date on Apple's calendar. Doing it with a new chief executive, a new Siri, and a form factor Apple has never shipped before makes this one of the more loaded keynotes in years.
Would you actually buy a folding iPhone?
