$5.8M SEED BET ON GAMES THAT RUN IN A BROWSER TAB
The pitch is not cloud gaming. Nothing streams from a remote server. The game runs on the player's own device through WebGPU and WebAssembly, opened from a single link.

🚨 $5.8 million to make the game download disappear.
Dublin startup Entity has raised $5.8 million (€5 million) in seed funding to build a browser-based platform it says will deliver console-quality games with no downloads and no installs, GamesIndustry.biz reports.
The distinction the company is drawing: this is not cloud gaming. Nothing streams from a remote server, so there is no round trip and no lag to manage. The platform runs on WebGPU and WebAssembly, and players jump into a game or a multiplayer lobby from a single link.
The pedigree is the reason the money showed up. Entity was founded in 2024 by Rich Barnwell, Kev Bergin, Dave McGovern, Fergus Duggan and Artur Stawiarski, who previously built Digit, the Irish studio behind Star Trek Fleet Command. Scopely acquired Digit in 2019. Head of games Paul Farley founded Firestoke, Tag Games and ChiliConnect, later acquired by Scopely and Unity respectively.
ACT, Delta Partners and Elkstone backed the round, with support from Enterprise Ireland and a group of games industry angel investors.
The catch is the calendar. Launch is planned for early 2027, with an opening slate mixing existing PC and console titles with original IP. That is a long runway on seed money in a market where distribution is owned by a handful of storefronts.
CEO Rich Barnwell said the industry has been "shackled by friction-heavy downloads and arbitrary constraints."
📉 Would you actually play a full-size game in a browser tab?
