$30 TRILLION MARKET PITCH AHEAD OF A $2 TRILLION IPO

The $30T figure isn't software spend. Anthropic is reportedly counting the value of the human labor its models could replace, from legal drafting to code review.

🚨 $30 TRILLION. That is the addressable market Anthropic is preparing to pitch investors, according to a Wall Street Journal report cited by Fortune.

For context, US GDP is $32.5 trillion. World GDP is around $120 trillion. The number Anthropic is reportedly putting in front of investors is roughly a quarter of global output.

It comes as the Claude maker is reportedly heading toward a $2 trillion IPO.

A total addressable market is not a revenue forecast. It is what a company would make if it captured 100% of a market. Fortune reports that rather than sizing enterprise software or cloud, Anthropic is said to base the figure on the full scope of work AI models could complete end-to-end: legal drafting, accounting, engineering, code.

In other words, the market being counted is human labor itself.

📈 The real numbers underneath: Anthropic's annualized revenue run rate passed $65 billion at the end of July per Bloomberg, up from roughly $9 billion at the end of 2025 and $47 billion in May. Its reported ambition is close to $200 billion in annual sales by the end of the decade.

Skeptics are loud. Tech analyst Fred Hickey called the claim absurd next to US GDP. VC Alex Brunicki told Fortune sophisticated investors will build their own cash-flow models and treat the TAM as a mission statement, while retail investors are more likely to take it at face value.

He also warned that many AI companies raising at multi-billion valuations "are going to go to zero."

Precedent: SpaceX recently put its TAM at $28.5 trillion. Uber claimed $6 trillion in 2019.
