LIV GOLF OWES A YOUTUBER $1.4 MILLION
Rick Shiels took heavy fan backlash for signing with LIV in 2025 and lost thousands of subscribers. The money he signed up for is now stuck in a Chapter 11 creditor list.

🚨 LIV Golf owes YouTuber Rick Shiels $1.4 million, and it just filed for bankruptcy protection.
Business Insider reports that Rick Shiels Media appears on the list of largest creditors in LIV's Chapter 11 filing, submitted Tuesday in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey.
Shiels has over 3 million subscribers on his main channel. He signed on as a LIV ambassador and content creator in January 2025 and took heavy criticism for it, losing thousands of subscribers after previously criticizing the league. He told Golf Monthly in May 2025 he went in "knowing full well there was going to be some kickback."
📉 He is not alone. Shiels is one of 24 people and entities listed as owed more than $1 million. Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau, the two biggest names to leave the PGA Tour for LIV, are each owed more than $7 million.
The PIF, the Saudi wealth fund that bankrolled LIV since 2022, has agreed to provide $49.6 million in debtor-in-possession financing to repay creditors. In April, the PIF said it would withdraw funding. The season ended abruptly when the Michigan finale was canceled 10 days before its August 27 start.
LIV declined to comment on individual contracts. Rick Shiels Media did not respond to Business Insider.
If you were Shiels, would you take that deal again?
