FEDERAL RESERVE AMONG AGENCIES BREACHED IN ALLEGED CHINA-LINKED HACK
The tools were domain-based platforms the DOJ says were pointed at U.S. critical infrastructure, not just federal offices. Seizing the domains is what took them down.

🚨 The Federal Reserve is named as a victim of a Chinese state-sponsored hacking group, according to the U.S. Justice Department.
CNBC reports the DOJ said Wednesday morning that the Fed, the Justice Department itself, NASA and other federal agencies were victims of computer intrusion by the group.
The announcement came as the DOJ said it had seized the online domains used to run two hacking platforms.
The platforms are known as QScan and QTRouter.
In the DOJ's own words, they were "used to target U.S. critical infrastructure and other sensitive networks."
🔴 Why the Fed matters here more than the rest: it is the institution that sets the price of money and clears the payments the banking system runs on. A breach at the central bank is not an IT story, it is a confidence story.
The DOJ statement did not detail what was taken, how long the intrusions lasted, or what any of it cost. No damage figure has been put on it.
Seizing a domain kills the address, not the operator. Nothing in the announcement has been tested in court.
What would actually make you nervous here: the Fed being on the list, or nobody saying yet what was taken?
