CANADIAN CARS AND TRUCKS FACE A 50% U.S. TARIFF
The rate lands Jan. 1, 2027, and it covers steel too. It follows the collapse of trade talks last week.

🔴 50%. That is the tariff rate Trump says will hit cars, trucks, auto parts and steel coming from Canada.
The start date he gave is Jan. 1, 2027.
CNBC reports the announcement came Monday, following a breakdown in trade negotiations between the U.S. and Canada last week.
In a Truth Social post, Trump wrote that "Canada has been ripping off the United States of America for years," accusing Canada of hurting U.S. farmers through its own tariff policies.
"Not sustainable, and NOT ANYMORE!" he wrote. "On January First, 2027, Tariffs on all Cars, Trucks, both large and small, Automotive Parts, and Steel, will be increased to 50%."
The money angle is the breadth. This is not one finished product. It covers trucks large and small, automotive parts, and steel, three layers of the same supply chain.
The timing matters too. A date more than a year out is a deadline as much as a duty, and everything between now and then is a negotiation.
For now this is a post, not a published order. The exact mechanism and any exemptions have not been laid out.
Do you think this 50% rate ever actually takes effect?
