$4M MEDICAID FRAUD INDICTMENT OVER 'SOBER LIVING HOMES'
The forfeiture reaches past the homes: a Las Vegas hair extension business tied to the accused, Glam'd By Sisters, is named in the case too.

🚨 $4 million in Medicaid money is at the center of a new indictment out of Salt Lake City.
The Post Millennial reports that a Salt Lake City woman has been indicted over an alleged Medicaid fraud scheme built around what the indictment describes as fraudulent "sober living homes."
The figure attached to the case is $4 million.
The reach of the case goes past the housing. According to the report, another business connected to her in Las Vegas, a hair extension company called Glam'd By Sisters, is also named. That business will be forced to forfeit funds in the case.
That is the part worth sitting with. Forfeiture follows money, not industry. A beauty business ends up inside a healthcare fraud file because of where prosecutors say the dollars travelled.
Sober living homes sit in a corner of the treatment economy that runs on public reimbursement. When Medicaid pays per resident, the incentive to inflate a roster is obvious, and so is the damage when the beds are not what the billing says they are.
One caveat that matters. The Post Millennial is the only outlet we have carrying this. An indictment is an accusation, not a verdict, and none of it has been tested in court.
Should Medicaid pay recovery housing operators directly at all?
