27 IRANIAN AIRLINES HIT WITH U.S. SANCTIONS IN ONE DAY

The list was built to leave nothing behind: every Iranian carrier not already sanctioned is now on it, and Treasury is telling counterparties they risk losing access to the global financial system.

🚨 27 Iranian airlines were sanctioned in a single day.

The U.S. Treasury Department announced the action Tuesday, along with a handful of other entities, under a campaign it calls "Operation Economic Outcast."

The design matters more than the count. CNBC reports the move targets all Iranian airlines that were not already facing sanctions. That leaves no unsanctioned carrier for anyone to do business with.

The message was aimed at third parties, not Tehran.

"Let this be a warning to anyone doing business with Iran's remaining airlines, all of which we sanctioned today: You are at risk of being cut off from the global financial system," Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said in a statement.

🔴 That is the real weapon. Not the airlines themselves, but every lessor, fuel supplier, insurer and bank that touches them and now has to decide whether the business is worth losing dollar access.

The backdrop is a war running more than six months. Tehran and its proxies continue launching attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and the surrounding region, according to CNBC, pulling more countries into the conflict.

📈 And it is showing up where everyone feels it. Oil is rising as the pressure builds on global energy prices.

Economic isolation is cheap to announce and expensive to live with. The question is who blinks first.

Do sanctions like these actually change anything, or just raise the price of fuel at your pump?
